The Complete Guide To Wheel Cleaning Products

It takes approx. 5 minutes to read this article

Shopping for wheel cleaners, tire cleaners, and rim cleaners can seem like an impossible task, with so many different products on the market that it’s difficult to know which one will work best. To help you find the ideal product, we’ve created this comprehensive guide to shopping for wheel cleaning products. Whether you’re looking to clean your wheels or tires, we’ll walk you through what makes a product work, and where to find them in the best deals.

Why do you need wheel cleaning products?

Most of us don’t give our car wheels much thought, but cleaning them is an important part of maintaining your vehicle’s appearance. Aside from looking bad, dirty rims can also damage your wheels and even interfere with proper braking. Thus, it’s essential to use good wheel cleaning products.

Kinds of Wheel Cleaning Products

When it comes to wheel cleaning products, there are several different kinds available to you. Some of these products include wheel cleaners, wheel waxes, tire cleaners and wheel sealants. Before you get started cleaning your wheels, be sure that you know what kind of product works best for your particular needs. Below is a list of each type and a description of how they work. As well as how they can help you clean up those dirty wheels!

Tire and Wheel Sealant

The tire and wheel sealant was designed specifically for tires, but it’s often used on rims as well. The tire cleaner helps clean off all dirt, grime and grease from both surfaces while making them look new again. It’s also an excellent choice if you have white lettering on your tires or rims because over time that white paint will fade due to exposure to sunlight or poor care. If you want to keep your car looking sharp then we suggest using a tire and wheel sealant regularly.

Wheel Wax

A wheel wax is very similar to carnauba wax. However, instead of being applied directly to your vehicle’s paint job, it’s applied to your rims and tires. This protects them from any UV rays that may cause discoloration or fade in their appearance. While a tire and wheel sealant is ideal for vehicles with white lettering, a wheel wax is great for cars with coloured rims.

Wheel Cleaner

Wheel cleaners were created to take care of tough jobs like removing brake dust and road tar from your wheels. They’re typically made with strong chemicals like trichloroethylene (TCE) which breaks down tough substances like brake dust quickly so you don’t have to spend hours scrubbing at them by hand. These types of cleaners should only be used when absolutely necessary because they’re not environmentally friendly.

Tire Cleaner

Tire cleaner is just like wheel cleaner except that it contains less harsh chemicals than its counterparts. These types of products won’t break down as much as TCE-based cleaners, but they will still do a good job at getting rid of dirt and grime. We recommend starting with a tire cleaner before moving on to something stronger like a wheel cleaner.

Wheel cleaning brushes

It’s important that you know what type of brush works best with your wheels before using it, because if you don’t know, then it can cause damage or even leave marks. Here are some wheel cleaner brushes that you can use.

The first type of brush is a soft bristle brush that has soft bristles made from natural fibres such as horsehair or nylon, which will give an even finish but doesn’t remove any dirt. This type of brush is good for restoring shine to chrome rims.

Another popular kind of wheel cleaning brush is one that uses polypropylene bristles, these are stiffer than natural fibre bristles so they do a better job at scrubbing off grime and mud from your wheels. These types of brushes come in different shapes and sizes depending on what kind of rim you have.

The third type of wheel cleaner is called a microfiber mitt. Microfiber mitts are great for those who want to take their time when washing their wheels because they allow you to wash your entire wheel rather than just small sections at a time like other methods.
