Various incidents can happen on the road, often beyond our control, so you should always be prepared for different situations. So be sure to stock up on the necessary items and put them in the trunk of your car

Compulsory equipment

A fire extinguisher and a warning triangle are essential items that must be in your trunk. You are obliged to carry them with you at all times as they are a necessary piece of equipment in Poland. The safety triangle should be used in the event of a car accident, which unexpectedly happens on the road. Its main purpose is to warn oncoming traffic. Keep up to date with the regulations to find out what items are currently compulsory. Pay particular attention to this if you are travelling abroad. Different countries have different rules

You should also have a first aid kit with you. You can compose it yourself or buy a ready-made set. For example, include bandages, plasters, a triangular sling, an elastic bandage, scissors, and disposable gloves. It is also a good idea to carry an emergency blanket and a special mouthpiece or breathing mask. Medicines and disinfectants should not be placed in the first aid kit. If you need them, put them in a carry-on bag. You must remember that you have a duty to help people injured in traffic accidents. Then such a first aid kit becomes very helpful and sometimes even necessary

Spare parts

It’s a good idea to have a spare wheel in your trunk because it often comes in handy at unexpected times. Make sure it is in good working order and well inflated. In addition, make sure you have a spare set of bulbs and fuses for your specific car model. A supply of windscreen washer fluid can also be extremely useful. It’s always a good idea to take it with you, so it should have a permanent place in your trunk. If you’re going on a long trip, get coolant, brake fluid and engine oil. These should be checked regularly and topped up if necessary

Useful accessories

In addition to the items mentioned above, you may find led flashlights useful. They provide strong light, are durable and come in compact sizes. You can easily fit them even in a small trunk. It is worth having them with you in case of any emergency at night. Especially if you stop in the middle of the forest, for example. You should also carry a small toolbox or multi-tool accessory with you. These will allow you to repair minor faults. You can also get special wrenches and a jack to help you replace a wheel with a new one. Don’t forget to buy a tow rope. Check its condition regularly

In the winter, get a decent windscreen scraper to keep your vision clear while driving. Also watch out for freezing rain, which can occur as early as autumn. If you don’t clean your windshield regularly, you’ll put yourself in danger and break your windshield wipers faster. You will also find it useful to use a brush to remove a layer of snow, for example, from the roof of your car. Many people recommend taking starter cables, which will come in handy if you have trouble starting your car. With these you can also help other drivers in need. Also, always have a car phone charger with you. It comes in handy during a long journey, especially if you use GPS navigation during the journey.
